BUFFALO, NY — The largest Upstate New York restaurant week is scheduled to begin Monday, March 28, and run through Sunday, April 3.
More than 200 independent restaurants from the Buffalo and Rochester areas, plus several breweries, are signed up to participate in the 3rd annual Local Restaurant Week. Each will offer special dining deals for $20.11.
Local Restaurant Week was developed through a collaborative effort by various entities in the local foodservice industry, including the Western New York Chapter of the Restaurant Association and Food Service Enablers, a leading technology provider to the industry.
“We began in the financial crisis and were mainly interested in helping to fill seats,” said Peter Longo of the Restaurant Association, “but now in its third year [the event] is not about price points or bargain deals. It’s really about drawing the distinction between locally-owned businesses and chain restaurants, and putting the focus on the local restaurants as a cultural asset to our area.”
