This is a list of players who are hot in the world of fantasy baseball heading following the games on Sunday, April 24, 2011.
Lance Berkman, St. Louis Cardinals – I’m not sure what anyone expected from Lance Berkman this year in St. Louis but he has to have exceeded all expectations. On Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds, Berkman enjoyed his fourth consecutive multi-hit game and his eighth in the last 11. Over those games, Berkman is hitting .487 with 13 runs.
Peter Bourjos, Los Angeles Angels – In Sunday’s game against the Boston Red Sox, Peter Bourjos went 2-for-3, both singles, in the loss. In his last eight games, Bourjos it hitting .428 with one home run and four runs. His overall average is .301 with a slugging percentage of .507. He has five doubles, two triples and has scored eight runs.
Jason Heyward, Atlanta Braves – Anyone worried about Jason Hayward after his slow start can stop worrying. In the Braves series with San Francisco, Heyward went off with seven hits for four RBIs and three runs scored. In Sunday’s game, he hit a three run homer in the seventh to put Atlanta out front.
Kosuke Fukudome, Chicago Cubs – Against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday, Kosuke Fukudome went 2-for-5 with a run scored, meaning he has at least one hit in every game played this season except four. His average on the season is an eye-opening .415.
Alex White, Cleveland Indians – Alex White is a starter right now for Cleveland’s Triple A affiliate but it should be just a matter of time before he is in the majors. After working his way through single and double A ball last year, he is now tearing it up in Triple-A. White has not notched a win but has not given up more than two runs in any game this season, has a 2.00 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 20 Ks compared to three walks in 18 innings.
Andre Ethier, Los Angeles Dodgers – Andre Ethier extended his hitting streak to 21 games, one of only three players to accomplish this feat as early as April. Ethier has a hit in all but one game this season, batting .407 with two home runs, 13 RBIs and 12 runs.
