First things first. What is the ACLJ? The ACLJ stands for the American Center for Law and Justice, which is head-quartered in Washington, D.C. What is its intended role/purpose in the world?
“The ACLJ is an organization dedicated to the defense of constitutional liberties secured by law.”
“The American Center for Law and Justice is a d/b/a for Christian Advocates Serving Evangelism, Inc., a tax-exempt, not-for-profit, religious corporation as defined under Section 501(b) of the Internal Revenue Code, specifically dedicated to the ideal that religious freedom and freedom of speech are inalienable God-given rights. The Center’s purpose is to engage legal, legaslative, and cultrual issues by implementing an effective strategy of advocacy, education, and litigation to ensure that those rights are protected under the law.
The Mount Soledad Cross has been targeted for over 20 years now. Its permanent removal has been the goal of those who insist on the legitimacy of the notion of “seperation of church and state”, an idea nowhere found in the Constitution of the United States.
“Congress shall make no laws respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”
Simply put, the presence of a cross on Mount Soledad, especially as a war memorial, in no way constitutes the actual act of Congress “making” a law “respecting an establishment of religion.”
In January, however, a three-judge panel of the U. S. Court of Appeals ruled that the cross was unconstitutional.
Where does that leave the Mount Soledad Cross and the ACLJ?
In a matter of days, the ACLJ will file an amicus brief with the hopes that it will help to overturn the recent ruling made by the appeals court. Continue down below…
The ACLJ has already “presented the clear argument that the federal government’s acquisition of the Mount Soledad Veterans Memorial – including its commemorative cross – is consistent with the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment.”
The ACLJ is asking anybody who is interested in joining their efforts to do so by clicking the following link Sign on to our Committe to Protect the Cross and submitting your committment to stand by the Mount Soledad Cross.
Although organizations like the ACLU (American Civil LIberties Union) continue to claim that this is strictly an issue of constitutionality, the fact remains that this “legal battle” is indicative/reflective of a broader, more important “spiritual battle” that is unfolding – NOT just here in America – but around the world.
We MUST NOT be deceived by those who seek to remove, not just the Mount Soledad Cross here in San Diego, but ANYTHING that exemplifies the glory and true spirit of God from the world. God Bless America and anyone else in the world who recognizes HIS glory and power.
