No doubt, last week left most of us feeling a bit empty in the wake of Russell’s absence. I am still stoked about the potential of this season, and the cast looks to be host to some interesting players…but could you imagine if Boston Rob were to leave next? Would this season continue to be as intriguing? Well not that it will happen, but from the looks of this week’s episode preview, it appears Phillip is really going to make a push to dethrone Boston Rob…
…And by “make a push”, I mean continue to annoy and alienate himself from his tribemates.
Here’s the episode synopsis from CBS: “Loyalty of an alliance versus competitive strength of a tribe has the castaways questioning their strategy in the game. Episode Title: “Their Red-Headed Stepchild” – One castaway digs deep to find a way to weaken the strength of a powerful alliance, while a luxury item creates an unexpected bond between the dueling castaways on Redemption Island.
Analysis. Breaking these words down, I expect the “questioning their strategy in the game” part to be in reference of Rob, Grant, Ashley, and Natalie. By continuing to lose challenges (if they indeed lose), they may begin favoring tribe strength over alliance loyalties. Phillip is a more physical player than someone like Andrea or Natalie, so perhaps this refers to Rob considering keeping Phillip despite his crazy ways.
Over at Zapatera, Stephanie is all alone with her only real ally, Krista, facing off against Matt, the reigning champ of Redemption Island. Even though she pledged her loyalty to Rob during last week’s Duel, if Rob was smart (and he is), he will have to begin strongly considering the removal of Phillip next. Just as Stephanie may join with Rob come a merge, Phillip (and Andrea) are likely candidates to flip. Could Rob’s one flaw in this game be the underestimation of former federal agent Phillip? Time will tell, but my prediction is that if Rob’s tribe goes to Tribal, they’ll finally get rid of Phillip.
As for some predictions (not spoilers, just my opinions), Matt has got to be getting worn down, living on Redemption now for a long stretch of time. To his favor, the challenge doesn’t look overly physical this week, which also could lead people to think that Krista has a shot of winning. Something tells me that Matt will continue his winning streak.
If Zapatera goes to Tribal, you can nearly bet that Stephanie is gone next, unless some of the players begin thinking ahead…which they should. David seems crafty enough to pull the rug out from underneath Sarita, can he possibly create a blindside using Stephanie, Steve, and Mike?
