Today, SFE has your latest Scream 4 news…
First, a warning: New images from the film surfaced on the Internet yesterday, and while some are innocuous enough, others contain spoilers—especially for those detail oriented folks who enjoy a nice game of “name that corpse.” So be careful in your surfing, Screamers…
Meanwhile, BoxOffice.com has cast their prediction as to the potential for Scream 4’s theatrical performance. They are forecasting an opening weekend haul of $50 million—and a cumulative total of $115 million. If these numbers hold true, the film will be the highest grossing of the franchise. Which means that Scream 5 will be greenlit before you can say I’ll be right back…
Speaking of the possible sequel, word on the street is that the studio is currently seeking a scribe for the project. ShockTillYouDrop.com “has learned Dimension Films still has a Scream 5 writing assignment on the table for a potential writer, which means the studio is serious about kicking off a new trilogy with Scream 4.” Though Kevin Williamson was initially contracted for both 4 and 5, his apparent exit from the franchise has left the writer’s seat vacant. In other news, the lovely Neve Campbell is Health magazine’s covergirl for the month of April. Here is a short and sweet exchange about her co-star:
Your co-star Courteney Cox has said she fell in love with you filming Scream 4.
We fell in love with each other! (Laughs) She´s one of the coolest women I´ve ever meet.
This dovetails nicely with Cox’s own reflections, shared with Entertainment Tonight last year (and transcribed by ShowbizSpy):
“I worked with her in the first three Scream movies and I liked her then but I really wasn’t close to her,” explains Courteney.
“We were nice to each other and we socialized a little bit, but for some reason Scream 4 – that’s when we clicked.
“I was like, ‘Oh my God I can’t believe I missed out on all these great years with you.’ She a really cool, soulful person and I’m so glad I got to know her during this one.”
And finally, here are a few more cryptic tweets from our Fun World friend R.J. Torbert:
30 DAYS——different WAYS—-to find YOU—–yes its TRUE—-if you answer the PHONE—-it won’t matter if you are not ALONE
I will be THERE–and I don’t CARE—–about the TEARS——-after all , its been ———10 YEARS
With thanks to our friends at Scream-Trilogy.net, Ghostface.co.uk, and HelloSidney.com for their continuing commitment to sharing the latest Scream 4 news—including several of the items noted above.
