All moms know about routines. Keeping them adds a sense of safety and security for our loved ones. Yet many moms also know how easy it is to get out of those routines and how hard it is to start them back up. What if there were routines you could implement, no matter how busy you are; that will help you keep your home clean, give you strategies to organize your life and time and get your children to help too. Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it?
You can find the help and support you need to get free from your clutter at Flylady.net. This website is packed with valuable information to help you get organized and bless your family with a clean home. It is also full of clever acronyms that you’ll learn as you join the FLYbaby community; F.L.Y. actually stands for Finally Loving Yourself.
At first sight the website ironically looks overwhelming but as you take your time and navigate through it will all come together for you. You will be introduced to the founder, Marla Cilley, and her team of fellow organizers. If you decide to subscribe to the Flylady digest, you’ll receive daily alerts by email of your particular “zone” to concentrate on for the week. In these emails you’ll also get a dose of encouragement through the testimonies of other moms and dads who are trying to keep their home clutter free. You will find products for sale that will aid you in your journey, water bottles, cleaning supplies, etc. They have also recently teamed up with Cozi, a free electronic program, family-share account, that can help you to organize your whole family by computer or cell phone.
Working the Plan
You’ve decided to join the FLYbaby community but you’re wondering how this miraculous website works. It of course starts with you. FLYlady infuses its users with a get it done now attitude. This support site, if you will, encourages you to do something, not expecting perfection but always moving forward and leading by example. So, for the month of August your habit would be to do a load of laundry a day. Your goal is to build up to working in several different habits that are done on a daily basis. Then, on a weekly basis you would get your assigned zone for the week via daily emails. For example this week, the zone was the kitchen. You would do a small assignment or “flight plan” for that day. There are other details that can be added in order to help you succeed at working the plan that includes purchasing some of their products or a control calendar or journal however they are not necessary to be successful.
So don’t wait another day this may not be where you want to start but it is worth checking out and you have to start somewhere, that’s the first step. Just start somewhere. One place to start is the Akron Beacon Journal or the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Why? Because they will more than likely have coupons in the Sunday paper for cleaning supplies. Grab your kids and have them help you clip coupons for the products you like so that they can get excited about the fun new changes coming to your home. Some of the circulars, such as those for Giant Eagle and Walgreens will tell you that there are coupons that match up with products that you can find coupons for in the Sunday paper. Now’s the time; bless your home and get your family involved, FLYLady style!
