The corporations are our friends. They produce jobs. Give us a secure retirement, and allow us to reach our dreams and goals. Rick Scott Florida’s illustrious Governor repeats this mantra every morning. However as he slowly destroys what is left of Florida’s government, education system, transportation and environmental protection, he tells us that all will be well because in the end Corporations will save our lives. The Nation as a whole is suffering from the grips of Corporate control but in the swamps of Florida Corporations are the water of life according to Governor Scott. IN Orlando for example Darden is even vying to get its own special Corporate Tax Break. Yes the state of Florida leads the Nation in Corporate Welfare along with its newly proposed lowering of taxes a New Heaven will be created on Earth. Has this strategy paid off for Florida are we living the economic dream,?are our children healthy and prosperous? Or is this simply nothing more than a Utopia for Billionaires?
As the Scott journey continues we our state in dire straits. Unlike its 1980’s namesake it is only the Corporation who are enjoying their “Money for Nothing”. Yet while Scott is dreaming up of more aid for the corporations (he is meeting resistance in the corporate tax rate) They are planning on doling out 427 million to corporations for “economic development” according to Scott’s economic development director Gray Swoope by pressing for more less legislative oversight and more money the state of Florida is slated to have a massive surge in job creation. However the happy talk of business economic development has been tempered as of late by the fact that four the last four years, while business in Florida were getting tax breaks, high paying jobs for the people were not exactly something that was being generated. What is basically happening is tax payer money was being provided to private enterprise and lining the pockets of Ceos providing precious nothing to those who need the most. Not to mention the Education in the state of Florida and health care system were not exactly excelling while the Fat Cats have been bathing in the Benjamins.
Rick Scott has been getting some resistance though. His blatant Pro Corporate Agenda being exposed by many protests in the state of Florida. Protests like Awake the State that have been trying to shed the light on his agenda. Rick Scott meanwhile remains single minded and steadfast (he loves the Koch money) He has even hinted and danced around potentially vetoing any budget that does not include these tax cuts and corporate welfare measures. This obstinate course spells certain disaster for the state of Florida, as the inexperience of a man who has never held political office is shining through for not just those in the state to see but people from all around the Nation, can see the blatant trickery.
Once again the state is under siege from an individual with an Agenda to bring down the Middle Class and the Poor. Inroads have been though and some people are distancing themselves but the one true way to win this battle is to enact a recall.
