Leviton is all about the details in home decorating, and here to talk about their new line of Renu colors for electrical wiring devices for spring.
Q.: Jay Sherman, thanks for visiting. What do you do at Leviton?
J.: At Leviton, I am the Director of Marketing for residential products and I work to develop convenient, reliable product solutions, and to educate consumers on their benefits.
Q.: We’re here today to talk about Renu from Leviton, can you explain what that is?
J.: Renu is a new collection of electrical wiring devices including switches, outlets, dimmers, GFCIs and wallplates, which feature easily changeable faceplates that are available in 20 popular colors and a stainless steel finish—perfect for matching kitchen appliances. Ideal for the do-it-yourself decorator, the palette compliments any décor, ranging from soft neutrals such as Navajo Sand to bright colors like Granny Smith Apple.
Q.: What are the advantages of these particular faceplates and switches?
J.: Renu turns the electrical device into a decorative, easy to change accessory and colorful décor element. When their tastes change, a homeowner can snap off the faceplate and snap on a new color in seconds, without touching the electrical parts behind the wall or hiring an electrician to replace the device. Once installed, changing colors is as simple as squeezing tabs and pushing down on hooks to remove the outlet face, and snapping on a new face. Renu allows for an easy, inexpensive way to change and update the colors of a well-designed room for an instant makeover.
Q.: We have a lot of home painting information here on Home and Living, how are the Renu hardware related to that?
J.: The Renu palette was created to coordinate with popular paint colors, so homeowners can match the electrical devices their rooms to the wall color or the trim, contrast them, or find their own mix-and-match style with other colors in the room.
Q.: Are you going to expand the color line?
J.: Currently, we do not have plans to extend the available Renu colors, however there are many options to using the current Renu palette. For instance, you can contrast a wallplate with the switch or outlet to add a playful touch of color to a room. Or, you can seamlessly blend your electrical devices by using wallplates and switches or outlets that match a wall color. Leviton.com offers an interactive tool to allow homeowners to visualize and discover how Renu will look with different wall colors in their homes. With the tool, homeowners can experiment to find the look that works best for their rooms.
