I write this article with the importance of stressing the need to keep your pets, both cats and dogs, free of fleas and ticks. Lyme disease, which can be found in all ticks including dog ticks, is on the rise in both humans and pets and can create major health issues if not caught in the early stages and is often mis-diagnosed. With the warm, moist weather here in Central Florida this is prime tick and flea season so I hope you too will take the Protection Pledge which will not only keep your pet healthy but will also help the ASPCA continue their work in saving animals
The following ASPCA article is about a new flea and tick prevention product partnering with the ASPCA that will donate 1.00 for each protection pledge made as well as donate their product to the ASPCA’s rescue dogs and animals recovered in disaster relief rescue efforts . I have always been a big fan of Mandy Moore’s, she is a very talented entertainer and an over all nice person , I may be a bit biased being that I used to groom her parents three dogs here in Orlando, but I now respect her even more by taking this pledge to help keep animals healthy.
Mandy Moore visited the ASPCA on April 20 to introduce the ASPCA’s newest corporate partner FidoPharm, the makers of PetArmor™, a flea and tick prevention product available on retail shelves, and to launch a national awareness program to highlight the importance of flea and tick products and other preventive pet health care.
During the press conference Mandy introduced the PetArmor™ Protection Pledge, which aims to create a community committed to better pet health. FidoPharm, the maker of PetArmor, will donate $1 (up to $100,000 total) to the ASPCA for each pledge taken on the PetArmor™ Facebook page. Surrounded by ASPCA Adoption Center dogs and cats, Moore became the first person to take the pledge and encouraged her fellow pet parents to do the same.
“As a dog lover and someone who takes pet health very seriously, I was happy to take the PetArmor Protection Pledge and to highlight the importance of keeping pets safe from fleas and ticks,” Moore said. “I encourage pet parents from coast to coast to make this promise and give back to the pets who bring so much joy to our families.”
In addition to the monetary commitment from the pledge, FidoPharm is providing an in-kind donation of PetArmor product that we will use to protect dogs and cats in our Adoption Center and clinics. As the official flea and tick product of the ASPCA, PetArmor will also be used on animals recovered during our disaster relief and animal rescue efforts, and pets adopted from the ASPCA throughout 2011 will be offered PetArmor. Together, the ASPCA and FidoPharm are committed to providing all pets with access to quality healthcare to ensure they live healthy, happy lives.
