In Eldersburg, MD, right off the intersection of Routes 32 and 26, lies a hidden gem in a corporate park called Gymjam. Gymjam is an indoor facility for children, ages 18 months to 13 years old. They feature a variety of activities including classes, summer camps, bounce plays, and they even have birthday parties.
Upon entering Gymjam, you are automatically drawn to the indoor rock climbing wall on the left. Then, after looking around for a quick second you see everything else they have to offer. The main room has an obstacle course with foam rings, an inflatable trampoline, and a large bounce house with a slide. They also have a set of containers; one small and one large, filled with foam squares, for the children to jump and play in. Gymjam’s floor is supported by cushioning and springs, so even a good tumble will allow your child to avoid injury. They also have different setups for balance beam exercises and tumbling activities.
Gymjam offers a variety of classes to help children improve their flexibility while having fun. They start off with the “1 on 1 Class;” a mommy and me class for children from 18 months to 36 months. An instructor is there to guide you and your child through an hour long class of fun and exercise, while allowing you and your child to socialize. They offer three different types of independent classes for children ages 3-7. They have a “Move’n Jam,” “Agility Jam,” and “Gym Jam.” Each of the classes offersa different way to allow your child to gain flexibility and learn new athletic and gymnastic skills such as back rollovers and cartwheels. There is a bench area for the parents or guardians to sit while the kids are in class. They also have some toys and books for the siblings that are a little too young to participate. Gymjam also offers a dance class for children starting at age 3. They have a private room in the front of their facility where the instructor plays child friendly songs and teaches them some current dance moves. Their classes are offered Monday through Friday and run all year long. With each class you sign up for, you are also given three free plays a week. Your child can bounce around on all of the equipment for an hour, three times a week at the designated “free play” time. Also, when you sign up for a class, Gymjam offers you a special discount of 50% off any additional sibling’s class.
If you are looking for some fun indoor activity for your children during those blazing hot days of summer, Gymjam is now offering a special summer camp program. Gymjam’s summer camp is for children ages 3 and up, and will run during July and August. This year, they are featuring a “Read’n Jam,” which will include crafts and gymnastic activities based off of a different book they will read to your child each day. They will also offer a “Sports Jam.” This will focus more on teaching your children sports such as soccer, tennis, and hockey. And lastly, they will have a “Gymnastics Jam,” which will specialize in all gymnastic activities including rolls and handstands. Their sessions run anywhere from 2-5 days a week for approximately 2-3 hours a day and their rates are posted on their website for each class. Gymjam is also very flexible with their rates. They are willing to pro-rate all of your classes in case they coincide with a summer vacation, or any other event that wouldn’t allow your child to be there.
Gymjam is also a great place for birthday parties. The entire facility is available for your child’s birthday party on the weekend. They will even provide you with invitations, decorations, and all of your paper products. Gymjam runs a well organized, fun party for up to 10 children, for 1.5 hrs, for only $200. And, if you have more children you would like to invite, they offer additional packages to meet your guest list. They also work with several local businesses to assist you in ordering both pizza and cake.
Gymjam is a great family friendly facility that provides a clean, safe environment for your children to learn new skills while making new friends. You don’t have to be a member to enjoy their facility. They offer special rates and passes, so you can bring your child for some fun during their free play times.
