If you can read you can cook. Many people say that they can’t boil water. Jeannette firmly believes that if you can read then you can cook.
For this issue we will be making a simple potato dish that is easy and delicious. First make sure that all of your cooking surfaces are clean and disinfected. You can purchase the disposable disinfectant wipes and keep the container in your kitchen to use between steps, if counters get spilled on. Next you’ll need some supplies before you can start the fun part of this lesson. First you will need a vegetable brush .This is used to scrub vegetables under running water to remove surface dirt. Next you will need a cutting board and a sharpe knife. Lastly you will need a shallow pan that is lined with nonstick foil. Now preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
Here is a list of what you will need to make this recipe:
Potatoes with the skins left on. The rule for potatoe serving size is one potato per person.
Grated , shredded, or slices of cheese of your choosing. You can use such cheeses as swiss, provolone, cheddar, well you get the idea. For those of you who are watching their fat intake, low fat cheese can be used instead of regular cheese.
Now to begin the fun part. First scrub your potato to get any dirt off the skins. Place your potatoes on paper towels and pat dry. Once the potatoes are dry place them on your cutting board. Now take your knife and cut the potato into quarter inch slices. After that is done place the potatoes in rows on your foil lined pan. The next step is to take two tablespoons of olive oil and place it in a bowl. Now add one teaspoon of onion powder and half a teaspoon of garlic pepper. With a spoon mix all ingredients together. When everything is mixed together take the spoon and drizzle the mixture over the rows of potatoes. Now place the potatoes in the oven for about a half hour. To check the potatoes to see if they are done , the edges should be slightly crispy and the centers should be tender. If potatoes are not done place back in the oven and check them every five minutes till they are done. When potatoes are done cover them in cheese ,put back in oven and let the cheese melt. After the cheese is melted ,take the potatoes out of the oven and let cool to eating temperature. This dish is usually used as a side dish and goes very well with pork chops or steak. Once the potatoes are cool enough to eat, then the real fun can begin. Eating something that you made with your very own hands.
