Happy Monday, Fashionistas! It’s one of those days where we just need to spit out all the lovely little ditties that pass by our desks. Without further ado, things “scene and heard” amongst Fashionistas as of late:
Meet Hello Kitty! Well, the designer behind the kitty, that is. Tokyo’s Hello Kitty designer Ms. Yuko Yamaguchi will be appearing at the Soho Sephora on Broadway this Wednesday, March 16. The first 200 people who make a $35 Hello Kitty make-up purchase between 10 AM and 5 PM receive a wristband, which will ensure meeting Ms. Yamaguchi. She will be available to sign two items per person. Run, collectors, RUN!
Everyone’s Crazy for Katie! There is now a Kate Middleton nail polish (appropriately made by Butter London) – as well as an eerie dead-on likeness new doll. Is it sad we want BOTH?
Sweet Shades! Alain Mikli’s butterfly-shaped shades for Spring are SO cute, you’ll want to fly out of the Midtown boutique in several colors! According to the designer, “they sparkle like pearly-looking petals playing with light. Awwwww!
Forty and Fabulous! Enter Wilhelmina’s new 40 and over model search! Who says Carrie Bradshaw has to be the only fabulous 40-ish Fashionista in NYC? (Albeit, she only turned 40-ish during the SATC movies – like we REALLY believed she was in her 30’s that last season. Um, no.)
Fruit and Floral are in! Tap into your inner Chiquita Banana this spring and wear fruity and floral frocks for Spring. We do not recommend mixing the two.
Guilty Gilt TV! Gilt Group just launched Gilt TV…because apparently we need MORE ways to sample shop. Oh, the art of consumption.
Coloring not just for kids! A British illustrator launched a line of coloring books, Colour me Good Fashion, with renditions of iconic fashion figures, i.e., Anna Wintour, Kate Moss, Galliano…opps, that last book might be more infamous. Pass the crayolas, please!
Supermodel is really super! Petra Nemcova almost opted out of this season’s Dancing with the Stars in order to help with the Tsunami relief in Japan. Nemcova, a victim of the 2004 tsunami in Thailand, stayed on the show in order to “spread the word” of her own charity to help those in need from this disaster. Let’s vote for her!
Oh so adorable Bambi! Patterson J. Kincaid has partnered with Disney for a limited-edition collection of clothing featuring Bambi and her friends. Retails $88-$148. Hmm…coinciding with a Bambi DVD release? Those marketing masters…
Gaga for Gucci logo! Fiat announced its collaboration with Gucci for a special edition car. The car, which comes complete with infamous red/green seatbelts and GG embossed seats will retail for about $24,000. Ok, we get that Europeans get a crack at the “rival designer mini cooper copy” first. But, if you are going to roll out in the US by end of year, it should come with a sales incentive of “with purchase comes matching Hobo!” JUST SAYING….
“Scene or heard” anything that we haven’t mentioned, Fashionistas? Let us know!
Have a fabulous Fashionable Week!
