Guri Weinberg (“Stefan” in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2) recently spoke to the Daily Twimes about his foray into the Twilight world and offered up a little insight into the production process for the film, which took place mostly in Baton Rouge, Louisiana but also extended to British Columbia this spring.
“When I met with the costumer for the first time,” he explained, “we really carved out Stefan’s persona through wardrobe. When it all came together with the clothes, the make-up, hair, and the contacts, I was very happy with what we all created.”
Evidently, Weinberg had a Romanian accent prepared for his audition and reported, “[Stephenie Meyer] actually heard it in my audition tape before I was cast. Then [director Bill Condon] brought in a dialect coach for Noel [Fisher (“Vladimir”)] and I. It was impotant to us all that we got the dialect as perfect as we could.”
As mentioned before, Stephenie Meyer found Guri Weinberg to be an ideal version of the “Stefan” she had in mind, and Weinberg recounted, “I met Stephenie when we did our make-up and wardrobe screen tests before filming began. She was also there throughout filming. We immediately ‘clicked.’ She’s a really down-to-earth person and put at ease right away. I was a little nervous to see how she felt about me in costume and make-up. When she saw me, she told me that it was exactly how she pictured ‘Stefan.’ I was pretty happy about that.”
As for character development, Weinberg explained, “I really loved the history with the Volturi. I loved the age and power of this character . . . so many options for an actor to play with. . . . Michael [Sheen (“Aro”)] and I actually talked quite a bit about the history between our characters. Michael wished Stephenie would write a prequel to show the battle between the Volturi and Romanians.”

As time progresses, we’re learning more and more about how each of these castmembers felt about coming onto the Saga, and it’s always fascinating to hear the individual takes on the experience. I’m loving the rapport the newest Breaking Dawn additions seem to have with one another, Stephenie Meyer, and Bill Condon. To be a fly on the wall of that meeting, eh?
Final note: In the interview, Guri Weinberg introduced his new website, GuriWeinberg.com, and that has been added to my official cast internet sites list (bookmark it!).
