Affiliate marketing is just about the cheapest way anyone can go into an online business, but some affiliates earn almost nothing from their programs simply because they do nothing. If nobody knows you went into business, how can you expect to collect paychecks? Remember, affiliate marketing is a form of sales marketing and you will definitely need to advertise your merchant’s products in order to retire early.
Promoting your merchant’s business and products to induce other people to click on the link that you provided will make you a successful affiliate. The ads you design and where to place them will happen when you become an expert on your affiliate product.
To become that expert the best thing you can do is purchase your product yourself. That way you can tell your customers about your first-hand knowledge because you are using the product. If you can’t afford to do this, at least make a thorough research and perhaps write a testimonial about it.
Write your own affiliate ads. Yeah, we all have used the ads the owner of our products offer, but think about it – so do 25 or 100 other affiliates. Writing your own ads gives you a great advantage over lots of other affiliates who cannot or will not write their own.
Talk about your products in the Social Networks. If you do not belong to Twitter or Facebook, you are working behind the curve. You don’t have to do a promo… just talk about how great it is to have that widget that you sell every day.
Start a Newsletter and gather names from a signup form on your website. The whole idea is to find ways to attract more traffic to your site. More traffic = more sales. Keep in mind that super affiliates take time to read, learn and embrace the changes in online marketing businesses. Never turn down a free video on traffic, advertising, networking or search engine updates; you may learn something you never knew.
Outsourcing is another option you might consider. Find the top traffic generating sites and sign up with one. They will send you “targeted” traffic without any help from you. Outsource your search engine submissions – they will do this for you or make suggestions on how you can update your website for a better position on Page one of Google or Yahoo.
Even more important – never, ever give up. Being engaged in affiliate marketing and growing your paychecks is hard work without patience and persistence. Check your statistics and find out which things are working and are not working. Make changes as necessary.
