A new game and a new front man. In Dead Rising 2 you play as Chuck Greene, a well known dirt bike racer and stunt man stuck in the middle of a zombie outbreak that is out of control. Chuck’s main purpose is to keep his daughter Katey from turning into a zombie by using a new drug called zombrex. But it’s not gonna be easy.
Chuck and his daughter is stuck in the middle of Fortune City (a smaller lamer knock off of our beloved Las Vegas.) and they are surrounded by thousands of zombies and psychos who would love nothing more then to rip you to pieces and steal your cell phone. Which sounds kinda like South Phoenix except for not being able smash their heads in with a baseball bat. But thankfully we have Dead Rising 2 where it is perfectly expectable to do just that. The game offers you the ability to combine several types of weapons together giving you a creative edge on killing your enemies. I mean who wouldn’t want to shoot a saw blade into a zombie or make a homemade LightSaber to cut down the undead? These are just two examples of the many different combos of weapons you can create. There are also vehicles you can use to mow down zombies, and some of these vehicles allow to combine weapons on them as well. like a rocket launcher on a bike, or my opening favorite, the dual chainsaws on a dirt bike.
However as fun as it is slaughtering former neighbors and residents, Chuck is on a timed mission. He has 72 hours until the military arrives and his poor little girl needs her zombrex every 24 hours or else she’s next on the chopping block. So seen how you want to make a good impression as a father, you have several little side missions to get caught up in as you search for her zombrex. So just killing zombies every way you can won’t work. Not to mention everyone is wiry of you cause Chuck was set up to look like this out break was his fault. So dealing with some of the survivors can be a pain.
Dead Rising 2 has two ways to play, Single player or online co-op so you can make it rain blood with a friend. However I found that my favorite mode is an online multi-player mode called TIR or Terror is Reality. This mode allows you to go head to head with other online players (4 player) in an American Gladiator type game show where your ripping apart zombies for points. The one with the most points wins getting the winner the money and the chicks. The different games like Ramster Ball and Stand up Zomedy are randomly chosen for every session you play. But the final game is always SliceCycles where your given that awesome dirt bike with the dual chainsaws to cut your way to the top covered in zombie blood.
So if your a zombie fan I would totally recommend Dead Rising 2. However I’m not sure if you want to make a permanent spot for it in your video game collection. Just like Dead Rising I found this game very repetitive, and those waves zombies can get rather annoying after a while. I also think the health system is one of the worst systems in video games. But the weapons are cool and the customization is great. you’ll defiantly have fun with this one but it might be short lived.
