Capture the Leader
Checkout – A war-ravaged super market that is left in ruins. With shelving and other random furnishings scattered throughout, the composition of the level creates an intricate maze of sorts. Plenty of cover can be had, but several power weapons are on the map. Though small in size, it offers many distinct play possibilities.
Notable Weapons: Sniper rifle, Mulcher, Boltok, Gorgon SMG, and Digger Launcher.
Grenades: Frag, Incendiary, and Ink.
Environmental Effect: An alarm will go off resulting in nothing.
OldTown – Vast and open, Old Town is spacious and allows for plenty of long-range combat to be had. For those looking for a more personal touch, the central market location will provide intense bouts and close-ranged combat.
Notable Weapons: Torque Bow, Sniper Rifle, Digger Launcher, Boomshot, and Scorcher.
Grenades: Smoke, Ink, and Frag.
Environmental Effect: None
Thrashball – The thrashball court is Cole’s old stomping grounds where he would wage war against players instead of the Locust. Small in size and limited cover, Thrashball is designed for an all-out war, but there are halls to hide in. Navigation is tight and will require a lot of strategic planning to take advantage of the map’s design.
Notable Weapons: Mortar, Mulcher, Digger Launcher, Torque Box. Grenade types: Power weapons include: Mortar, Mulcher, Digger Launcher, Torque Box.
Grenade: Frag and Incendiary.
Environmental Effect: The scoreboard can be shot down will crush anyone below it and block access to either the Digger Launcher or Torque Bow for remainder of the round.
Trenches – Dirty, dark, and grey, Trenches is a filthy looking map but a great one designed for intense battles. Cover aplenty, players will need to use a machine gun or shotgun to make use of the close-range nature of the map. Level is very similar to Gears of War 2 map ‘River’ in design.
Notable Weapons: Mortar, Digger Launcher, Mulcher, and One Shot.
Grenades: Ink and Incendiary
Environmental Effect: A dust storm will ensue and block view for all.
