With the promise of a great Spring weekend comes an abundance of events for pet lovers. Some of these events are ones that you can take your pets and some don’t allow them. If unsure, check with the venue before taking your pet along. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club will be holding a show from Thursday through Sunday April 10. There will be conformation classes, rally/obedience, children’s handling class, health clinics and more. The show will be held at the Marten House in Indy.
Specks in Greenfield will be hosting “Paws for the Cure” on Saturday April 9. The event will run from 11 AM-4 PM and will include a pet parade, give aways, photos with your pet, special sales and plenty of adoptable animals from rescue groups. The Binford Farmer’s Market will be open at their indoors location on Saturday from 9 AM-12:30 PM. Admission is free and there were several vendors with pet related items included JP’s Doghouse chews. They had a variety of homemade dog treats, snoods, stones for your garden and even edible Easter baskets for your pooch. Wags Strays will be holding adoptions at the Petco in Fishers from 10 AM-2 PM on Saturday. They have many adult dogs and puppies still waiting for their forever homes. Indiana Bulldog Rescue will have a table at Moochie & Co at the Castleton Mall from 11 AM-4 PM on Saturday. Donate to IBR and receive a 20% off coupon for your purchase.
Petshop Puppies will be holding puppy mill rallies on both days this weekend. Saturday’s will start at the Uncle Bill’s in Fishers on Mundy Road. That one will run from 10 AM-11:30 PM. From there, they will go to the Uncle Bill’s on East Washington Street and rally there from 12:30-2 PM. Sunday will find them at the Southside Uncle Bill’s on US 31 South from 11 Am-12:30 PM. The rallies are legal, family friendly and an easy way to spread awareness about the connection between that cute puppy in the pet shop and the horrible life its parents are living in the puppy mill.
Sundays from now through June 26, you can dine with your dog at the Milano Inn during Puppies, Pasta and Bocce. From 4-9 PM on Sunday, 10% of the proceeds will go back to help animals in need. Dogs must be leashed and water will be provided. This is only available if the weather permits. In addition to the above events, most Petco and Petsmart locations host adoptable animals at their stores on the weekends. Petco is holding a National Adoption weekend both Saturday and Sunday so there should be some kind of adoptable pets at most of their locations.
