There is an epidemic that’s killing people. It’s far worse than H1N1. This epidemic may never be under control like Sars, there is no flu shot for prevention and there is little treatment for it. It’s affects can be deadly.
Once a person has been affected by this epidemic in any way, or have had some exposure to this epidemic they will suffer from some type of side effect. From it’s mildest effects to extreme exposure the effects are lifelong and in many cases has resulted in death.
This epidemic is spreading and growing at an alarming rate. And not much is being done to stop it. It’s called IVB – [Intentional Violent Behavior]
There are many forms of this widespread epidemic: It’s been reported in the news, on television, and in movies are made of it.
It’s talked about by those who care about others well being- and awareness has been created. Unfortunately, it is kept all too silent as well… many have shame that they may have fallen victim: Some are judged or feel judged as though they attracted this into their lives somehow.
Let’s start with some basic info about IVB; a more common term for this epidemic- violent behavior (any form)
- from domestic violence and abuse, child abuse to spousal abuse.
- bullying- every thing stemming from any type of harassement to abuse
- it can affect everyone and anyone- many have been exposed to it for decades
- It can be dormant for years-or people who have and know they have been affected continue to infect others
It is occurring everywhere, our children and teens from bullying and verbal abuse, “texting” and attacks on Facebook…sexual abuse committed by coaches, teachers and doctors.
The power people. Doctors raping patients-and more doctors raping patientsThey very people who we trust not to contribute to the epidemic are doing so.
We have witnessed this in sports, including sports where violence often isn’t a part of the game.
Heck, look back on the figure skating violent event that occurred a number of years ago when a skater was brutally attacked by her competitor. Who would think that something so beautiful like figure skating could turn so violent? – Old news, but something many will never forget.
What is being done to stop unnecessary violence? What is being done to stop abuse of all sorts?
Look at our justice system. It pretty much says it all. Read a few of the Winnipeg headlines alone regarding violence, abuse, rape, or any of the criminal activity that are in our papers daily. Let alone world violence…
Then go ahead read about what happens to those committing these violent crimes: not enough is done to make people think twice about violence, or the abuse of others or the justice system contributing to abuse.
When will this epidemic stop? How long will we allow this epidemic to spread? How long do we watch human beings suffer, thoughout their lives, and watch so many usless deaths.
How much longer will people let this go on? If this were a real epidemic- and not a fake one, *cough*- no one would stand by and do nothing, or not demand something be done by our so called leaders who job is to protect man-kind. An enabler is someone who watches, stands by, or contributes to the problem?
Would the enablers please rise. Will the victims, and survivors please rise, will all those in favor of stopping this epidemic please rise. Together we can help to stop IVB, and the epidemic spreading.
