But before you shop there are a few things to do first.
Begin by thatching your yard it helps the lawn to get air and water to the roots. For small lawns, use thatch rake to comb thatch from grass.
For larger lawns, use power rake to remove thatch from grass.
Use leaf rake to collect thatch, bag and discard.
Spring is time to seed your lawn to help create a thicker lawn and cover any thin or bare spots. Winter activities can also damage the hidden lawn underneath. Animal urination and snow blowers scrapping the sides of driveways can hurt the under laying lawn. Reseeding can help replenish. Select a grass type that is suited to grow in your area. Then measure the surface area of your lawn to determine the amount of seed you’ll need. If you measure the area first it can reduce over spending .
Next prepare the mower. A good cut means a good looking lawn. Blades that are damaged should be replace it with a new one. Bent blades should not be sharpened. Use a medium to rough flat file. Filing in one direction only, sharpen on the original angle of each cutting edge. Both sides of the blade need to be sharpened. Make sure to file toward the edge of the blade. This can be done at home and save you’ll save yourself from having to make a trip to the mower repair shop. Now you should be all ready to enjoy a great cutting season with a great looking yard.
