Friday April 22nd on “Good Friday”, the San Jose Mercury ran an opinionated piece from the New York Times regarding “facts have become irrelevant” in an editorial by Gail Collins on abortion. Across the page there was a political cartoon lampooning The Last Supper with Jesus being relegated to irrelevancy by Smartphones.
The liberal lean has been documented in a UCLA report where 18 of the 20 media outlets scored left of center in an objective measurement by UCLA political scientist Tim Groseclose. “Reporters tend to vote more Democratic than Republican, but I was surprised just how much the disctinctions are”, Groseclose noted.
“There is a quantifiable and significant bias in that nearly all of them lean to the left,” said Jeffrey Milyo, a University of Missouri economist and public policy scholar.http://newsroom.uda.edu/portal/ucla/Media-Bias-Is-Real-Finds-UCLA-664.aspx
Christian values been assaulted or disrespected by the liberal media in a variety of venues; newspapers, radio, magazines and television. Much of these attacks have been ignored for the most part by Christians since the expectation of persecution is already warned about to many believers in Jesus.
Concerning abortion there is basically a monologue conveyed in articles, opinions and information being released. The core issue is ignored by supporters of abortion just as the core issue of slavery was ignored by anti-abolitionists. Typically religious ethics are ignored and even scientific evidence regarding the humanity of “fetuses” is avoided.http://www.mccl.org/page.aspx?pid=298
Abortion is the defining issue of our time as stipulated by both Ronald Reagan and Hillary Clinton. The morality of abortion has NEVER been addressed which has frustrated the majority of Americans that are against unabridged abortion; especially the core of Americans with Christian ethics that find abortion repugnant.
Abortionists only deal with one third of the equation…the rights of the mother. Father’s rights are an afterthought, unless we want to talk about fiscal accountability. The core rights issue ignored are constitutional rights of the unborn, a separate entity from the mother. Since when does canceling the right to exist become another person’s choice?
Claims are arrogantly made by pro-abortion forces that they know all about when life begins, when consciousness enters the brain, or at what point a fetus becomes viable. Is the trait of self preservation considered? What about brain wave activity? Brain waves determine when a human is alive outside the body but ignored if it happens inside and generated by a fetus?
The New York Times whined about anti-abortion forces ignoring the facts. It’s the classic case of the pot calling the kettle black. Pro-life forces are guilty of following the heart better than the liberals on this issue. There are too many facts ignored by the pro-choice position, which amounts to no choice for either father or conceived baby.
Christians are trained to ignore insults and ridicule to its religion. Our Founder was executed for “political correctness” and we were instructed that “if they persecuted Me, they will persecute you.” It’s annoying still to have our standards made fun of and disrespected by those pretending to be fair.
Scrubbing information or not reporting pertinent religious expression is routinely done. Looking at the events of the young girl losing an arm in a shark attack while surfing was very telling. YM Magazine did a masterful job of removing any Christian association from the Bethany Hamilton story when it broke, then when you compare it to the Evangel Magazine…it’s night and day.
This writer sent an inquiry by email asking why this appoach was used by YM, A terse one-sentance response was sent back that rudely didn’t address anything. It was a moment of mild persecution one would just have to learn to live with.
