This September 11th will be the 10 year anniversary of the worst terror attacks perpetrated upon America. A plethora of information has been revealed since then, from myriad reliable sources…which should have resulted in a more educated public. But, if the response of a NY Congressman is any clue to the public’s knowledge…we are in a perilous place, one decade later…
In an interview with the The Adirondack Daily Enterprise, NY Rep. Bill Owens (D-NY) of the 23rd district, said the following concerning the hearings being held by Rep. Peter King (R-NY) titled, “The Extent of Radicalization in the American Muslim Community — and that Community’s Response.”: “I would rather see those hearings focus on extremism in America without focusing on an individual religious or ethnic group.”
Now as a former member of the US Air Force, I would expect a more well-informed response. I fear Owens move from an Independent to a Democrat has hindered his ability to reason soundly. Perhaps, Rep. Owens is unaware of the following:
Since 9-11-01, almost 17,000 deadly terror attacks have been carried out by Islamic terrorists, globally.
Every terror attack had one unequivocal element in common: All the participants were of the Muslim faith.
The Buffalo Five al-Qaeda cell members: Sahim Alwan, Yahya Goba, Shafal Mosed, Yasein Taher and Faysal Galab, were ALL Muslim.
The Fort Hood terrorist was a Muslim.
The Buffalo, NY man who beheaded his wife for bringing domestic violence charges against him, was a Muslim.
The man who attempted to blow up Times Square, was a Muslim.
In the past 35 years, 3,308 citizens were killed by Muslims in America in 65 separate terror attacks.
I guess Rep. Owens missed those ‘aberrations’…
Rep. King has now had to hire extra security due to death threats he has been receiving domestically and overseas. Could Rep. Owens’ comments have contributed to the hostile response? Difficult to say…but one thing is for sure…some of his constituents disagree with his comments…
One of them happens to be a former US Senate candidate, Karen Bisso, who on Teamwatch.us, responded to the Congressman as follows:
“What extremist group in America would Representative Owens want the commission to look at? After following the news for quite some time now, I scratch my head, deliberating over what group of people I would commission an investigation into which would fall under the category of “American Extremism?” After all, the hearings are set to examine radical Islam and any attempt to sway from that objective is to revise our history as of late and deflect from the issues at hand. Political correctness breeds complacency and will eventually lead to nothingness….a concept I don’t believe we have the luxury of living with as it will undoubtedly lead to us living without……. without security, without the principles and foundations this nation fought to secure (Judeo-Christian beliefs) and without trust; trust in a government which will secure our safety in spite of porous borders and religious zealots. Please do explain Congressman Owens which groups you would ask the commission to focus on?”
Spot on, Ms. Bisso! Without adequate national security, all other issues are moot. And the question begs an answer…in light of a decade since 9-11, where should we be looking for the culprits…a convent?
The fact that Rep. Owens would make such a statement should be alarming to every American. When our leaders are woefully clueless to the facts that are required to plan a valid security policy…we are in deep drek and this type won’t lead to the sewer but rather…the graveyard.
Something for all citizens to consider leading up to 2012.
Shalom through strength…
