It is the second Friday of the month, and that can only mean one thing: it’s time for another RITUAL party! This month, RITUAL will be twice the celebration, as it is not only time for the once a month alternative theme party but also hostess ONI’s birthday.
RITUAL will be held this Friday, April 8, at the Shelter. The theme this month is Geisha Dreams. Look to the East for inspiration for this Asian theme. Silk clothing, kimonos, kung fu fighters, ninjas, anime/cosplay, and of course, geishas are all suggested costumes for this event. Just remember to leave your katanas at home!
DJs this month are Jennocide and Catt Ninetails. This incredible duo of dames rocked January’s RITUAL War Machine, and they are back this month to see if they can “make the beats go harder” (a la Garbage).
With Asian culture and people in mind at this event, RITUAL is organizing a donation to the Red Cross to help Japan in its efforts to rebuild. Last month’s earthquake was devastating, and every contribution helps. Attendees will be given the opportunity to donate at the event, and a portion of the cover charges will also go toward charity.
RITUAL takes place every second Friday of the month at the Shelter. The Shelter is located at 2101 Tula St. NW 30309. The cover for RITUAL is $10, and it is 21 and up to enter. The doors open at 9pm and close at 3am. There is also plenty of free parking!

Notes on the March RITUAL:
Last month’s RITUAL Wild Wild West was a wild, wild party! I was pleasantly surprised to see such a diverse collection of costumes. The indian costumes were especially impressive, as many people pulled various items from their wardrobes to create interesting Native American inspired attire.
A photobooth was set up in the front room of the club where attendees could go to get professional-quality pictures provided by madfishX. View the photo album on Facebook. The booth was so successful, you will likely see it again at future events! Roaming photography was provided by Spun by Stefan.
With all of the lassos and extra rope about, it was unavoidable that spontaneous Shibari demonstrations would take place. Both cowboys and Indians took turns getting tied up. (Hopefully none of them were left on the train tracks at the end of the night!)
