A parade of weak weather systems will make for an unsettled weather day across the immediate Capital Region today. It looks as if the final impulse, associated with some light rain and/or snow showers, will pass through the region by early afternoon. This should allow for some clearing to take place by the later portions of the day.
High pressure will then build into the region later today, and crest over the region tonight before moving east of the region by Tuesday morning. This will allow for a return flow of southerly winds into the region which should warm temperatures by a few degrees with respect to today’s high temperatures.
The fair weather experienced Tuesday will be short lived however, as another potent low pressure over the southeastern states moves toward, and then up the Atlantic seaboard Tuesday night and into Wednesday. This will be a fast moving system though, and despite taking a seaward track, enough warm air looks to be in place that we should see a wintry mix of precipitation overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday morning, before precipitation changes to all rain during the day on Wednesday.
This system is then followed by another high pressure ridge on Thursday which keeps the weather dry and fairly mild. The end of the week and the first part of the weekend look quite unsettled though, as several waves of low pressure look to pass through the region. Despite the occasional showers possible from time to time over the region, temperatures look to remain near to slightly above normal thanks to the westward track of these low pressure areas, thus keeping the region in a relatively warmer air mass.
