There is something about a group of people all across the world sharing in a moment for a unified cause. It makes the people who share that cause feel full of love, hope and the knowledge they are not alone. On April 15, 2011 at precisely 10 am EST, thousands of people will be blowing bubbles for Autism.
Bubbles are a staple of any autism-household, in the same way soap and paper towels are to any household. Children with autism and with sensory integration disorders benefit from bubble therapy. They are soothing, but they are also a visual stimulate, something that these children often seek.
And who doesn’t like bubbles?
FACES (Families for Autistic Children Education & Support) is a Ventor, NJ based non-profit organization dedicated to education and support of children with Autism and their families. They have held the Bubbles 4 Autism event attempting to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the past 8 years by getting more than 37,000 people to blow bubbles at the same time. Last year the group conducted the event at the end of April, Autism Awareness Month and just fell short of the record.
FACES provides a support network for families dealing with all levels of autism, at all ages.
According to their website “This is a life-long effort. We share successes and challenges alike, yet our families’ stories are as unique as our children’s footprints. No matter what you call it, we can be angels for each other. “
You can contact FACES at if you want to get forms, register for the event or learn more about their organization.
Currently there are Bubbles 4 Autism events schedule across the country in Arizona, California, Kentucky, Louisiana and also in Canada and England.
