One of the biggest challenges in going out to Sea Isle City restaurants is in finding one that is truly kid friendly. There are some places in town that offer a kid’s menu, but few compare to the atmosphere created at Valarie’s Place. From the kids’ handprints on the wall to the small play center available to all children, this is the one place families can go and know their children will stay occupied while they enjoy their meal.
I have a soft spot in my heart for Valarie because she is a fellow Dallas Cowboys fan. I think we are two of the half dozen or so residents of Sea Isle City that share this distinction. I found myself wandering into Val’s my first winter in Sea Isle City because of the Cowboys flag she proudly displayed. I knew right away this my type of place! I was not disappointed.
Val’s always has a welcoming atmosphere. In many cases, the moment you walk in the door you will be greeted with a warm Texas smile from Val herself. I honestly cannot remember visiting this restaurant without her at least stopping by my table to say hello. The restaurant is usually filled with families enjoying the wonderful food. It is truly a place where locals and tourists alike are made to feel welcome.
For those with kids, you will immediately notice the small play center Val has made available for the little ones. This is a great place for the kids to stay occupied while the adults are enjoying an after meal coffee or just want a few minutes to rest up following a hearty meal while enjoying some conversation. If this is your first time at Val’s, be sure to let her know and the kids will be able to literally put their handprints up on her wall.
The menu offers quite a bit of variety for every meal. You cannot go wrong ordering any of the breakfast items, but the Texas Toast is a must at least once while in town. If you visit Val’s for lunch, be sure to try the Cadillac Cheesesteak. To say that this monster of a sandwich is stuffed from top to bottom is an understatement. Bring your appetite for this one, because you are definitely going to need it.
One of the trademarks in Valarie’s cooking is that she tries to work some type of Texas influence into every dish when possible. While she has quite a few dishes that stand out, the one thing that many of them have in common is her homemade salsa. If you like it, which you surely will, be nice and ask Val for some to take home as it is the best on the island.
Locals will be pleased to know that Val is opening up a second location (Valarie’s Place Too) at 4010 Park Road. This location will also offer curbside service! Valarie’s place offers BYOB when open for dinner service and also features dinner hours during certain holidays. Catering menus are also provided, just call and ask to speak with Valarie for all available options.
