March 23, 2011- Ada’s Whole Foods Market reopened today in Fort Myers after an absence of several years. The store is under new ownership and is preparing for their grand opening event for April 1-3, 2011.
It can be a little deceptive walking up to the front door. As you can see in the picture, Ada’s is literally in the corner of the plaza and the position of the doors give the appearance of a small place. That all changes when you walk in to find a large, well-lit supermarket. The store has a subtle jungle atmosphere complete with animal tracks painted on the floor. A couple of fish tanks dot the market to give it a little different look.
There is a little bit of everything in the market, ranging from a large selection of teas to locally grown organic produce. If there is an organic or natural version of something, chances are it will be on the shelf. Health and beauty aids to pasta, most things you’d want to pick up at the market seems to be available. There was even a large selection of environmentally friendly cleaning products, including mops and brooms made from recycled plastic bottles. Organic wine, frozen foods were well represented, as were the expected vitamins and nutritional supplements. The store even stocks pet natural pet care products and food (look for the dog food with bison). The store also offers options for those following a vegan diet.
In addition to the grocery part, shoppers can visit Ada’s Garden Café. The café will be open for lunch or dinner. The café will have organic and gluten-free prepared foods available to “grab and go” or eat it there.
The store is located at 4650 South Cleveland Ave. (Click here for a map). This is in the Burlington Coat Factory Plaza near the intersection of US 41 and Colonial Blvd. Store hours are 9:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday through Saturday and 9:00 am to 6:00 pm Sunday.
The store also has a new website. It is up and running, but much of the website hasn’t been finished yet.
One of the employees that the Fitness Examiner spoke with said the Grand Opening event will have prize giveaways and demonstrations. Of course there will also be some opening discounts. On the topic of employees, they were plentiful and friendly.
