Did you know that everything in life has a time and place under the sun, including justice? In our local Boise news yesterday, media reported that a man accused of a triple murder back in 2002, has been returned to Idaho and at the Elmore County jail. Jorge Lopez Orozco, 33, was captured by law enforcement in Mexico a year and a half ago, and was finally extradited to Idaho to face three counts of murder. The victims were Rebecca Ramirez, and her two young sons, their bodies were discovered burned beyond recognition in a car outside of Mountain Home, Idaho. Orozco will face three counts of first degree murder, and was arraigned yesterday at the Elmore County Court, in Mountain Home, Idaho. Bond was set for $1 million. Orozco is scheduled for his next court appearance early next week, and will be represented by a court-appointed public defender. Orozco was on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list, and had been hiding in Mexico where he was captured in 2009. Mexico’s policy is to not extradite suspects who may face execution therefore, Elmore County Prosecutor Kristina Schindele had to waive the right to seek death penalty to get Orozco extradited back to Idaho. Perhaps some closure will finally happen for the victims families who have awaited justice for nine years. Prayers go to all those involved in this tragic case where precious lives were lost, and survivors have suffered with the unknown. There is no happy ending when lives are lost and justice finally speaks, even if unspoken for nine years.
What does this mean spiritually for the accused, for the lives lost, the survivors, and for the people working on this case? According to scripture, Ecclesiastes 3: 1-14 says, ” There is a right time for everything, A time to be born, a time to die; A time to plant; a time to harvest; A time to kill; A time to heal; A time to destroy; A time to rebuild; A time to cry; A time to grieve; A time to dance; A time for scattering stones; A time for gathering stones; A time to hug; A time not to hug; A time to find; A time to lose; A time for keeping; A time for throwing away; A time to tear; A time to repair; A time to be quiet; A time to speak up; A time for loving; A time for hating; A time for war; A time for peace. What does one really get from hard work? I have thought about this in connection with all the various kinds of work God has given to mankind. Everything is appropriate in its own time. But through God has planted eternity in the hearts of men, even so, man cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. So I conclude that, first, there is no better for a man than to be happy and to enjoy himself as long as he can; and second, that he should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of his labors, for these are gifts from God. And I know this, that whatever God does is final, nothing can be added or taken from it. God’s purpose in this is that man should fear the all-powerful God. Amen! May all involved in this case be led by truth, justice, and faith. Stay blessed and in His favor!
