The USC based LA Indie music sensation Y Luv just released their new EP How Chill Can You Let Go.
They are offering it as a free download for one month only at http://yluv.bandcamp.com.
Lead singer/guitarist Freddy Janney took the time to answer 9 questions…
1. How was your record release party at Silverlake Lounge?
It was good. We’ve been wanting to play there for awhile so it was nice to be able to have our release show be the first time we played there.
2. Did anything crazy happen that night?
Luke [Hanna, bass] got up on the table during Milo Greene and started dancing Coyote Ugly style . . . I guess it made sense. (Laughs)
3. When is your next show?
May 7 at the Alexandria Hotel. I’ve heard good things about the venue so I’m excited.
4. Are you guys making a music video anytime soon?
Yes. Things have been super crazy trying to finish school and releasing the EP, but we’re going to start shooting the video for “All Night” in two weeks.
5. Who are your musical influences?
There are so many. Between the four of us there’s a pretty wide array of styles and artists we love. Everything from Kid Cudi to Phish to Led Zeppelin to the soundtrack from Social Network. But I guess when we get together as Y LUV, bands like Kings of Leon, The Killers, and Bloc Party have a pretty big influence on our songs.
6. Are there other local bands that inspire you?
Just saw Foster the People at Coachella and it was siiiiiiiiiiiiick. Light FM has some great songs. Superhumanoids and American Royalty are doing some really cool things too I think.
7. Do you do any covers?
Not very often.
8. How long have you been a band?
The four of us have been playing together for a little over two years. But Sam [Nardella, guitar] and I did some jamming in high school (we grew up down the street from each other).
9. How can fans purchase ur music?
The EP should be up on iTunes in about a week. But right now, head to yluv.bandcamp.com and download that nooooooise.
