San Francisco Bay Area residents who traveled south through wind and rain to Los Angeles this past weekend were rewarded with international fun at the 2011 Los Angeles Travel and Adventure Show co-produced by Unicomm and the LA Times. The successful event brought exhibitors from around the globe to the Los Angeles Convention Center for the biggest travel show in the West. Open to the public, shows like these are a great opportunity to plan travel face to face with representatives of destinations, tour companies, and travels.
It’s also a great time to learn from and meet the great travel gurus! Rick Steves, Arthur and Pauline Frommer, Johnny Jet, and Samantha Brown were featured speakers at the show sharing their travel wisdom and passion.
European travelers were delighted to see Rick Steves when the travel guru stopped by the Rick Steves Europe booth to chat with his dedicated followers. Excited travelers of all ages lined up to enthusiastically snap photos with their favorite travel leader.
The exclamations of excitement over Rick Steves were outdone by the screaming fun had by those adventurous enough to take a ride on the Zip line hung across one end of the convention center! From scuba diving to cultural dancing, Zip line rides and even pirate appearances, the LA Times Travel and Adventure Show was a great place for anyone interested in both domestic and international travel.
Interested in exploring Turkey but don’t like the travel involved to get there? Turkish Airlines offered Turkish delights at a morning reception dedicated to informing West Coast residents about the new nonstop flight to Istanbul from LAX. Bay Area residents may want to consider a quick connection to LA for the opportunity to fly in the new Turkish Airlines Comfort Class and enjoy a full 46 inch pitch (compare to 32″!). This new option is the very first non-stop flight from the West Coast to Turkey.
Half the fun of travel is dreaming and planning. Whether an armchair traveler or a seasoned globetrotter, travel shows offer a plethora of activities and opportunities to meet with countries around the world while mingling with passionate travelers.
The Los Angeles Travel and Adventure Show is a great opportunity for travelers to gather ideas and plot out the next itinerary.
In 2012, Unicomm will partner with Los Angeles Magazine and NBC LA, returning the show to the original location at the Long Beach Convention Center. Plan ahead to attend on January 14-15, 2012 in Long Beach!
