Do you often find yourself making excuses for the foods you eat? Do you think eating healthy is too expensive? Do you find yourself thinking that healthy foods mean sacrificing taste? Well, if you live in the Garden State, eating healthy may be easier than you thought. With fruit stands and farmers markets seemingly around every corner, getting the foods you need to prevent many illness, even breast cancer, is just a short drive away.
There are many foods that have been proven to help reduce, and even prevent many cancers. The following foods, can help reduce your risk of getting breast cancer: broccoli, soy, salmon, flaxseed, and green tea. Other foods are known to reduce the risk of breast cancer as well as other forms of cancer: beans, spinach, garlic, tomatoes, and berries.
Broccoli, and other green vegetables that have sulforaphane in them, is excellent at fighting breast cancer. Also, natural soy products, such as soybeans, are not only a great source of protein but they also contain phytochemicals that reduce the risk of breast cancer.
Many people know that salmon is a great source of omega-3. Those healthy, fatty acids can improve blood flow, reduce inflammation, and lower your risk of developing breast cancer. Another great source of omega-3, cancer fighting, acids is flaxseed. Like salmon, flaxseed can reduce inflammation, is a great source of fiber, and helps stop cancer cells from spreading throughout the body.
Once you’re done eating your salmon, be sure to wash it down with a glass of green tea. Not only can the antioxidants in green tea stop cancer cells from growing, but they can also help prevent excess weight gain.
Other food sources that are known for fighting several cancers are beans and spinach. A can of spinach may not help you form instant muscles like it did for Popeye, but mixing black, red, or kidney beans into your spinach salad can help stop the growth of cancer cells. Together the protease inhibitors in beans and beta carotene, along with vitamin c, found in spinach can help lower the risk of breast and lung cancer.
Don’t be afraid to top your salad with garlic and tomatoes. Garlic can not only reduce the risk of contracting breast cancer, but it is also known to slow the growth of tumor cells, kill harmful bacteria, and improve the immune system. Tomatoes, like garlic, can fight many cancers and their antioxidants are also known to reduce inflammation.
Finally, many berries, such as strawberries, blueberries, etc., contain acids and antioxidants that are known for reducing the risk of breast cancer and several other cancers as well.
These are not the only foods that can reduce your risk of breast cancer. However, incorporating these foods into your daily diet can prove to be an inexpensive way to prolong your good health.
